Cheap Seized Cars - Buy A Great Car From The Government Auction

I'm sure you are dreaming of a sleek sexy car speeding up on your nearby avenues, boulevards, and national highways. Well don't procrastinate, for you can get this car of your dreams for as low as a few hundred bucks by just visiting seized car auctions organized by the government or any auction company.

Seized cars? Are you kidding? No, it's true. These cars are actually those that are privately owned by people who made some crimes like kidnapping, tax evading, and so on. Thousands have been collected by the government and the banks each month so that bunches and bunches of cars leave the government without enough space for them. Only the solution of auctioning them has proven to be effective. Apparently, the government just wants to raise their funds as high as it would allow.

These auctions always happen on the same day of the year (habitually every month or every quarter) and at the same location as well and they are organized by the government. The bidding begins at a hundred bucks or even lower in some cases. Scan your broadsheet or your tabloid classified ads section or visit local agencies and ask for when the next auction would be. If not, try the internet and locate some car auctions at a faster and easier rate.

Another tip, always gather some information on the car that you would be buying so you will know if it is worth the value. Some of the cars have many bidders allowing their price to end up higher than their true value.

Some problems get on hand while visiting such public sales. Prices on some beautiful speedy cars skyrocket once bidding starts. The very cause of this is the presence of a huge crowd. People bid the car and cause the prices to jump fast. You can't stop the prices to blast and only the ugly and non-speedy ones end up still affordable. Skyrocketing prices leave you almost impossible to buy one.

What you should do? Visit seized car auctions that are not highly promoted and where there are only a handful of people. It is the seemingly only answer to this labyrinthine puzzle. Find some membership cards on the internet and voila, you will get enough information on where to find public auctions with great cars but with cheap prices.

But that is now the past. Today, everybody can purchase these cars at lower price due to the increasing number of auctions online. You can even have discounts. However, not all sites keep up with what they say. So find good sites on the internet that keep their promises. Be forewarned to be more speculative in choosing sites that offer discounts!

Before buying a car, have it examined by a car expert so that you will be sure that the car you've chosen works pretty well and is under good condition. You have to do this as auctions have neither warranties nor guarantees.

After buying the car you have chosen, you can now enjoy its speed and comfort while driving. You have successfully acquired an old car with a new owner! Drive it safely and avoid accidents, good luck!

Car Tuning 101 - 9 Basic Tips

Your car should get a tune-up, or major service, every 30,000 miles. And, this is probably the best preventative maintenance tip a car owner could get. The components of a good tune-up will check into and replace all the things that cause normal wear and tear on your car. If tune-ups are missed, this could lead to damage and further problems that cost a lot more than a tune-up. In addition, tune-ups can give you better gas mileage. Best of all, tune-ups can be done on your own, saving you the high cost of labor.

Here are the things you will need to do as you tune your own car, as well as an explanation why it is strongly recommended.

1. Fuel Filter- You will want to replace your fuel filter. Dirty fuel filters can lead to difficulty starting the car, can restrict the engine, and cause the car to lose power.

2. Sparkplugs and sparkplug wires- you will want to replace these, as bad plugs can rob your car of fuel efficiency and even take away from drivability. Bad spark plugs can even cause breakdowns, meaning an expensive tow. Bad wires can also cause problems. (See our article on this process)

3. Distributor cap and rotor- these two parts are usually made of plastic, therefore they deteriorate with age and use and cracks may develop, allowing moisture in. Because of this, metal contacts on both can corrode, which causes misfiring.

4. Valves- you will want to check and adjust your valves as needed. Also, you will want to replace the valve-cover gasket, especially when you see oil on the top of your engine.

5. Belts- you will want to check all of your belts to make sure that they are not worn. If they show signs of extreme wear and tear (fraying, tension) you can replace those as well.

6. Air filter- A dirty air filter blocks airflow to the engine, making it work harder. This results in a decline in horsepower and fuel economy.

7. Fluids- check all of your fluid levels underneath the hood. If any appear to be thirsty, give them what they need. (Transmission, brake, etc.)

8. Battery- give your battery a cleaning. (see our article on this process)

9. PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation)- this should be replaced because a clogged breather filter prevents the PCV from siphoning the blow-by gases and moisture created by engine combustion. This results in oil breakdown and sludge buildup.

The previous nine tips are the usual for tune-ups. When giving your car a once-over, you may also want to check your brakes, wiper blades, lights and other gauges. Also, while much of the aforementioned parts can be changed with a major service every few years, from time to time, you may need to replace one or more as a stand-alone project. But, all in all, following this guide will keep you with a smooth, reliable ride!

Tuning CARburetor The Scientific Way

The carburetor, found in the internal combustion engine, regulates and maintains the right mixture of air and fuel in the engine. When the engine ignites the fuel, the energy in the form of gas is distributed to make the vehicle run. The carburetor is an important auto part and tuning it is crucial.

Making vehicles in tune is a common practice. However, there are still a number of car owners who are not acquainted with the scientific way of tuning automobiles; they stick with the traditional way. However, according to auto experts, more often than not, the traditional way is not always right.

The carburetor performs multiple tasks all at the same time. It calculates the ratio of air to fuel, filters air intake, and distributes the right amount of fuel to feed the engine. Because of the complex nature of carburetors, some automakers are replacing it with the electronic fuel injection. The latter distributes its subtasks to various systems that can handle them efficiently. Hence, the complex process is made easier and simplified.

However, if the car owner knows the scientific and most practical way of tuning his vehicle’s carburetor, he could save a lot. Compared to the fuel injection system, the carburetor is much simpler. Every driver should know that the proper level of fuel is just at the base of the sight hole. If the fuel does not trickle out of the sight hole, you should adjust the float up. Moreover, if the car's gas spills or the carb drips fuel, there is likely a bad seat assembly and needle. The owner of the car should take it away from the top without removing the float bowl. There are several carburetors manufactured in state-of-the-art standards. Weber carburetor parts are meticulously assembled to make them function efficiently without compromising functionality and safety.

Never move the secondary float bowl to the primary and vice versa. The rear float bowl level is lower compared to its front counterpart. This is done to keep fuel from dripping out and into the carburetor's throat during heavy braking. Also, when gas flows out of place due to a bad float, valve or too much fuel pressure, said pressure should be checked. It must be between 4 psi and 7 psi. If the fuel pressure is right, then the problem is on the float or its valve. This situation calls for an immediate replacement. It is better to purchase a complete conversion kit. Weber carburetor conversion kits and other well-regarded brands in the industry offer a complete line of sophisticated carburetor and parts.

In choosing carburetors, one should look into its tuneability and performance. They must be proven by car owners and other auto authorities. In addition, one should also consider the carburetor's versatility. There are those manufactured to suit on a great number of vehicles. The companies offering this kind of carburetor concentrate on quality engineering hence; they have earned trust and loyalty among car owners.

A well-tuned carburetor provides a consistent flow of fuel at nearly all angles. This will prolong the service and ensure good performance of the car.

Car Audio Installation

Car audio installation is a fairly specialized job, requiring at least some knowledge about the basics of car designs and electronics. The final audio output depends to a large extent on good installation. You may buy the best equipment, but if it is not properly installed, then the result will be poor. The entire set up consisting of wires, amplifiers, alternators, and speakers would have to be perfectly set up for that great audio effect.

Speaker location is perhaps the most important part of setting up your car audio. Determining where you are going to place your speakers is the first step you have to take. The designs of cars are such that the listener isn't placed perfectly in middle of the two speakers. What we mean to say is that the distance between the left speaker and the left ear is not the same as the right ear and the right speaker, which is a traditional audio setup. You can easily avoid this problem by making the distance between the left and right as little as possible. Some people try to place an extra speaker on the dashboard. The problem with this is that this speaker on the dashboard rips the sound into two, making for unpleasant hearing. You can try placing the audio in different locations around the car and arrive at the proper configuration for your speakers. Another mistake which commonly occurs is that people tend to go for looks rather than the sound, when it comes to car audio. Try to listen, rather than look. Some unlikely places inside your car may be the best for placing speakers.

Choosing the location of subwoofers and amplifiers is relatively easy. You can place them where you feel they will look good. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that different equipment may interfere with each other, if improperly placed. The next step is the wiring part, which is equally important. The thing with laying cables is to buy the correct cable keeping in view the capacity of the amplifier and speakers. Next in line is the installation of the head unit and amplifiers. Once you install them, you have to select the correct type of speaker enclosure. Although the choice is yours, you can try different types of enclosures and choose one which gives the best audio output. A final fine tuning, preferably with professional help and your car audio installation is done.

Six Tips for Thwarting Auto Thieves with an Automotive Security System

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (www.ojp.usdoj.gov) over three quarters of all crimes in the U.S. are made up of property crimes and certainly automobile theft is among the most prevalent. Automobiles are easier targets than homes in many cases as they are high dollar items, in high demand, and can be driven away within seconds leaving behind virtually no clues as to the identity of the thief.

Although manufacturers have continued to provide basic automotive security features, additional measures are needed as thieves continue to adapt to devices on the market.

For first time buyers unfamiliar with the options, the decisions related to purchasing an automotive security system can be daunting. However, there are a core set of features that should be considered which will help consumers select an effective system with less frustration.

• An automotive security system should provide a first line of defense that warns would be intruders that a particular vehicle is protected. Some type of visual reminder such as a flashing light on the dash or stickers that indicate security are simple deterrents.

• A second line of defense is audible alerts; sirens and alarms that sound when a breach is attempted. This security feature brings unwanted attention to the break in and slows the thief down in attempts to eliminate the sound. These should be sufficiently sensitive and should detect any breach. They should trigger when windows are broken, doors are opened, the hood is raised, and so forth. Motion detectors and infrared sensing are common. A good siren will continue to operate even when power from the battery is cut off in attempt to eliminate the warning. Some of the best automotive security systems will also notify the owner when a breach occurs so that they can check on the vehicle or notify law enforcement.

• Another feature of an effective automotive security system is an immobilizer or kill switch to shut off the ignition/starter or perhaps the fuel pump. Certainly, such features make driving off with the car extremely difficult. Some systems will even lock the hood when activated to prevent access to the engine and other mechanical components. At this point it is also important to consider that a device that is located so that it is difficult for thieves to find and disable can be critical as well as this can additionally delay the thief.

• As thieves have continued to adapt to newer automotive security systems, higher tech methods are employed to gain access to vehicles. Code rolling is an excellent feature that prevents thieves from picking up the codes used to gain entry to the car by using a type of code grabbing device. Code rolling changes the codes used by a driver's keyless entry device each time it is used.

• Another option to consider is a tracking system. As far as automotive security systems are concerned these are not a deterrent but a retrieval system. This type of security system allows a vehicle to be tracked and recovered if it is stolen. Some systems are activated only once law enforcement is notified but ideally the system would activate immediately once the car is taken. Some of these systems will notify the owner by e-mail, pager, or phone when the car is moved.

• A final consideration when purchasing an automotive security system is how effective it will be in avoiding annoying false alarms. Some systems can have the sensitivity adjusted to keep false alarms to a minimum while others are able to identify malfunctioning sensors and shut them down until repaired. Newer automotive security systems also offer dual zone sensing which produce only a small chirping alarm for minor occurrences, such as a bump on the side of the car versus a full blown alarm for more intrusive occurrences.

Certainly cars are a significant investment that is attractive to amateur as well as professional car thieves but consumers can tilt the odds significantly in their favor with the addition of an up-to-date automotive security system.

Christine Peppler believes that consumers should not have to possess a technology degree to be able to choose home electronics and entertainment devices. Take advantage of the wealth of simple to understand, useful information and shopping available on her website at www.homemedias.info

Car Audio Equalizer

For most of us, a car audio system is nothing more than a device that plays our favorite music. However, our car audio systems are complex mechanisms. They consist of several small units. One unit of a good car audio system is the equalizer. It would be interesting to know more about the equalizer in a car audio system.

Understanding the Equalizer

A car audio equalizer can be defined as a high fidelity audio control. The equalizer enables the user to control different frequency bands in an audio system. The user can also see graphically or digitally (depending on the equalizer design) these sound frequencies with the help of the equalizer.

A regular car audio equalizer includes several audio filters or amplifiers. Each audio filter is centered on a particular frequency in the audio range.

The user can then decide which frequencies need to be boosted and which need to be turned down. This requires a level of skill. But you can try it out and see what works and what doesn’t.

Now, that you can tweak the frequencies to change the sound doesn’t mean you should do that with every CD you insert. This should actually be done only when you’re setting up, upgrading or tuning/retuning your car audio system.

It is always good to have an equalizer for your car audio system for several reasons. The most important advantage is a great improvement in sound quality. The audio quality is enhanced.

There are several types of equalizers. Most equalizers include both high and low pass filters for all inputs. However, whichever you choose will make a difference in your car audio system if used correctly.

If you don’t know how to use it and are not patient enough to learn or willing to get a professional, then you’d better leave it off. You can actually mess up your car audio if you don’t do it right.

How Diesel Tuning Devices Work

The turbo boost pressure is not altered by our diesel performance modules, only dynamic parameter changes are made in real time to the electronic diesel fuel injection system, within the manufacturers specification. A number of engine parameters are modified, depending on the specific engine and its operating condition. These include a number of aspects, including fuel injection timing and volume., depending on the specific engine.

Increases in boost can cause ECU error codes if not managed carefully. Our diesel performance tuning modules permit the original ECU to handle all of its error and sanity checks. Unlike some other systems on the market, our modules has been tested in real world conditions from the heat of the deserts to the cold climates of the alpine regions, in day to day city driving to the demanding slogging off road outback usage. They are truly tested Australian tough!

Diesel Tuning Modules are specifically designed and tested to achieve enhanced performance by modifying the electronic diesel fuel injection parameter mappings. Through careful interaction of these parameter values and characteristics optimum performance of your engine be achieved. One of the reasons this optimisation is required is manufacturing variances and varying fuel qualities across the country, across the world. Vehicle manufacturers wish to produce one version of a vehicle for worldwide distribution. This means they must choose the lowest common denominators, and for go some performance gains.

Many of the DPChip Diesel Performance Tuning Modules also have adjustable tuning via a moveable connection. The Diesel Performance Tuning Module can also be tuned using a MS Windows computer (typically a laptop). This is a form of tune that can do considerably more than the manual adjustment. As well as overall power being able to be increased, the power can be moved further down or up the range and the power delivered can be varied to be smooth or aggressive.

Another great advantage of this is that if you decide to enhance your vehicle further, through maybe larger intercoolers, larger exhausts etc. you can easily adjust the Diesel Tuning Module to match the new modification so the full potential can be reached. Fixed map boxes and chips this is not possible and a new chip or box would be required - costing more money.

Power and torque can be felt immediately after the Diesel Performance Tuning Module is fitted. The throttle response is improved and particularly low and mid range torque is vastly improved, making the overall performance of the vehicle completely different. This is particularly valuable when precise throttle response is required in off road conditions. Not only that, but the improved power and torque mean that you can approach obstacles in a controlled manner, not relying on brute momentum to carry you through or over them.

When carrying loads and/or towing the extra power is also great advantage. The overall drive becomes more pleasurable and the engine in most instances actually runs smoother. As an example, one of our test cars was able to slash more than 9 seconds from a typical highway overtaking manoeuvre using our DPChip Performance Exhaust system and Diesel Performance Tuning Module. Nine seconds is a long way at the legal speed limit.

For more on how diesel tuning devices can improve your power, torque and economy and how they do this. Visit www.dpchip.com for more information.
